My schooling years at Simtfolile high school from 2007 to 2009, a journey continued.

In 2009, I matriculated at Simtfolile high school -where I started school from 2007 until 2009- which is at a small village called Fernie, a village that is located in the eastern side of the province of Mpumalanga. During my high school
learning, we never used any computer as our resource in learning.

At Simtfolile we didn't have computer labs or any modern technological utilities. Teachers only used a  chalkboard and a chalk and textbooks as the only teaching resources. Although we were sometimes handed with pamphlets, but one could easily notice the inadequacy  of attaining knowledge. Most schools around my village suffered and still suffer from the very same problem that was crippling our school curriculum.

In this contemporary era, information and communication technology is a necessity..For our communities to develop, knowledge is required and school serves as vital sources of knowledge. So,our South African government and other private sector companies should aid by giving schools -both in villages and rural areas- computers which have excess to the internet.

  1. Mr K.P Nyembe there is huge demand of ICT development in our country but its is common sense that the government is not aware of such demand because if the government was aware of such demand was going to look for sponsors in the well developed counties to assist south Africa in ICT development. Imagine you matriculated 2008 and even by now the are no ICT lap in your school such I am certain about it hence we can deduce and say the government is doing thing in to develop the education system of south Africa in terms of ICT. This issues of ICT in schools is a serious issue they government must give attention to people who are doing research about ICT because from many research findings is stated clear that 'all the country with good education system in the world children of those country they are exposed in ICT at early age' thus its become easy for them to learn difficulty concept in online environment while you are busy struggle to study note which was written by your teacher who do not even comprehend what is talking about. Our country is busy used state money for mobilising political organisation instead of taking that money and fund ICT development in our country. I hope is a future teacher and somebody who is determine you have the responsibility to initiate change in the south Africa education system special in ICT development and you can only achieve that through engaging the government in debate that is related to how to develop ICT in South Africa. Recall that teachers are jack of all traits we are not compile to focus in teaching all but we must influence the country decision more special that will effect the education system. I sued to say ' we as teachers were are the foundation of the country we can build the country and can the also ruin the country'. Mr K.P Nyembe thanks for sharing such a nice and reasonable experiences that you had about ICT in you school days.

  2. There really is a serious demand to bring about transformation in our country, more so in rural areas. Which, if the government was to work with private companies, would have been alleviated on a much larger scale.

  3. yes it is true because even now we are suffering here at the university because we don't know how to use computers so it is important that even in rural areas school children should have access to internet and be able to use computers.

  4. Mr Nyembe the reason that technology was not advanced is that it was in rural areas and as for the chalkboard helped you because now you are far in life in a Tertiary level whereby you have an easy access in technology and ICT , that's why when life continues we learn new things. But as for time goes on the school will be developed through technology. As far as I am concerned education is a key to success as a foundation phase teacher to be you will be able to teach your learners because you will be well skilled and they will be lucky because our government will make the schools to have internet and computers in that way the will be creative and fortunate.

  5. Mr Nyembe, I like the fact that you and your pupils did well even though your school have no proper technology facilities by the time you were doing your matric. i think that this will motivate others to work hard irrespective of what they do have or not. this also shows that our government will have to work a little bit harder to make sure that our schools have all the needed facilities

  7. How I miss this school. It was my first time schooling outside KZN Durban when I went there in 1991 to do my STD 9. I learned to take care of myself in a foreign province as a young boy who came there running away from the city life. Almost everyone knew me there. I participated in school activities, I met the mother of my first born (RIP) there with a girl in the same school from Madonsela, at her home they had a shop up in the main road. I had style too and I was even friends with my teachers. I was there just for a year but it brings so much memories. I was even given a house for free which I left and came back to Durban.
